The ACCESS-Solutions Model
Collect
Gather your data through partnerships or fieldwork. Ensure the information contains a location element so it can be connected to place and represented spatially.
Chart
Map your data. You can rely on free tools such as Google My Maps, or contact Prescient Solutions to create a custom map designed around your exact question and audience.
Examine
Look for patterns that become visible through the map. Remember that finding no obvious pattern can itself be an important pattern that deserves further investigation.
Spot
Identify potential causes of the barriers. These causes can become the first actionable starting points for removing or reducing the access problems revealed by the map.
Summarize
Bring the map, patterns, and working theories together. You are now ready to create clear, practical steps toward breaking down the barriers you have studied.
Solutions
Reflect on the entire process. Carefully consider the community being researched and confirm that an important “X” factor, voice, experience, or unintended consequence has not been overlooked.
